Variations in Regional Responses to Integration

Regions heavily impacted by de-industrialization, like Western Ukraine, saw benefits in integrating with European markets due to job opportunities in the EU. In contrast, less de-industrialized regions, such as some parts of Southern Ukraine, were less motivated to emigrate as they still had some jobs and wages from local markets. This highlights the different responses to integration based on the level of industrialization in different regions.
