The Persistence of Racism and Gender Issues in Conservative Christian Circles
In the past, conservative Christian circles, particularly in the South, struggled with racism which eventually went underground. However, gender issues still persisted. Far-right circles argue against transgenderism, gay rights, and female preachers, claiming it goes against God's natural order. Race was also seen as a challenge to God's created order. Society tried to preserve the same order as the pre-Civil War South, but letting go of these beliefs has been difficult.
