Educational changes moving towards continuous assessment like GPA have had a different effect on boys compared to girls. Boys seem to excel more in hands-on, applied, and vocational learning styles rather than abstract learning for the sake of learning. They need to understand the practical relevance and purpose behind their learning, unlike girls who are better at abstract learning. Thus, the shift away from vocational training and towards continuous assessment may have negatively impacted boys' engagement and academic performance in the education system.
