Getting married earlier this year, my mom mentioned at my wedding how amazed she was to see the transformation from a shy introverted boy to who I am now. When I arrived in San Francisco, I shamelessly emailed people I found interesting. I even reached out to the COO of Heroku, which was in a similar field to my 3D printing company. He agreed to meet for coffee, and I ended up working with him for two years, learning a great deal. Building a network is all about being unapologetically aggressive in connecting with people doing interesting things, asking them questions, and providing value. This approach still works for me, even though I'm busy now. When asked about interesting people shaping the future, I highly recommend Deb Prell, who has profound insights into education and where the world is heading.
