Organizational culture consists of unwritten rules and values that drive behaviors. It is crucial for a leader to identify and document the values that are shaping the culture. Values lead to beliefs, which in turn generate behaviors. However, in many organizations, the alignment between values, beliefs, and behaviors can become reversed, leading to the establishment of unspoken values. It is essential for a new leader to actively monitor and realign behaviors with the established values to maintain a healthy organizational culture.
