NOTE

Different Approaches to Upper and Lower GI Bleeds

Upper GI bleeds are more common and manageable due to better control by GI procedures, like clipping or cauterizing arterial bleeds mostly caused by ulcers. Conversely, lower GI bleeds are more challenging with a need for advanced imaging like CTA to identify the vascular bed for targeting, as these bleeds are more mysterious and harder to control. Pre-procedure imaging is crucial for lower GI bleeds, while upper GI bleeds often rely on information from GI docs for identification of bleed source.
