The closure or restriction of the port of Baltimore will have significant repercussions not only on the daily lives of Baltimore residents but also on supply chains throughout the east coast and worldwide. With the port handling about $80 billion worth of cargo annually, equivalent to $6.5 billion per month, each month of shutdown or restriction will result in substantial financial losses for the local economy.
