We have this, what we've called a psychological immune system that is able to ward off a negative events and recover from them quickly. But even there, if you would ask me inadvance of these tragedies, ah, what will the lasting impact of them on be? And this is what we find in our research, that the people tend to say they're going the grief will last much longer than it does. What is your theory tim about wy, we have these gaps in self knowledge when it comes to our preferences, when it come to our forecast?"
How well do we know ourselves? Maybe the better question to ask is how well can we truly know ourselves? Psychologist Tim Wilson says introspection only gets us so far, and that we often make important decisions in life and love for reasons we don't even realize. But he says there are some simple ways to improve our self-knowledge.
