NOTE

Maintaining a moderate BMI for longevity

Maintaining a BMI in the 23-25 range for both men and women has been linked to the lowest mortality rates across all age groups, including older populations. While there is a common belief that individuals should gain weight as they age, this notion is not supported by data. People who maintain a BMI around 25 in their later years are often individuals who used to have a higher BMI but due to chronic diseases, their weight reduced to this level, leading to a potentially misleading reference point for healthy weight in older age.
