The Structure of Desire and Capitalism
Desire fundamentally operates on the principle of never fully attaining its object, which paradoxically constitutes the essence of its satisfaction. Capitalism exploits this structure by creating the illusion that the desired object is within reach, thus leading individuals to believe they can achieve fulfillment through consumption. This illusion is perpetuated by the promise encapsulated in commodities, which misguides the notion that obtaining these objects will yield greater enjoyment. In reality, the true essence of desire lies in its perpetual incompleteness, with satisfaction arising not from possession but from the very act of desiring.
