Intimacy coordinators work closely with directors and actors to choreograph scenes involving sex and sexual violence in films. They ensure that everyone involved knows their roles, can do repeatable takes, and stay safe. Similar to a stunt coordinator, they focus on making scenes exciting while maintaining actor safety. Intimacy coordinators also question the importance of intimate moments in the narrative and work to convey the necessary messages. Their involvement can lead to changes in the script or even the removal of intimate scenes if they don't serve a purpose in the story.
