NOTE

The Importance of Project X and Sig Sally in WWII

Project X, a collaborative effort between Bell Labs and Britain's government, was a significant project during WWII. Alan Turing, a part of the project, played a crucial role in cracking the German enigma cipher, enabling the allies to intercept German messages and ultimately defeat the Nazis. The creation of Sig Sally, the first digitally scrambled wireless phone, was aimed at preventing the Germans from doing the same. Shannon's work on proving the system's security contributed to the foundation of information theory through the exploration of concealing messages with random noise.
