Cats, initially domesticated in the fertile crescent, thrived in Egypt by adapting - losing their camouflage, becoming smaller, and developing new ways to communicate with humans. The Egyptian word for cat was 'mu,' and over time, cats in Egypt were adored and revered, eventually becoming objects of religious significance.
