The robber barons of today's food corporations
Down to Earth: The Planet to Plate Podcast
Consequences of industrial farming methods
Industrial farming methods have led to the collapse of family farms due to price advantages enjoyed by large corporations cutting corners. This has resulted in oversupply, market share domination, and family farmers being driven out of business. The shift towards corporate agriculture has also led to negative impacts such as the destruction of small communities, the creation of poor quality and unsafe jobs in animal factories, the overuse of antibiotics, and the deterioration of food quality. Moreover, the industrial model has been expanded across various industries, leading to similar negative consequences like hollowing out of communities, environmental evasion, and labor exploitation.
