Gaining Perspective on Native Culture and Western Worldview

Traveling abroad made me realize that my own culture has flaws and harshness. The Western worldview isn't necessarily the best; it's just one of many. Material poverty doesn't always equal misery. The poorest societies I visited had social cohesion and spiritual richness that the West lacks. We tend to overlook our own limitations and are weighed down by rationalism. The hardest adjustment was returning to Australia and realizing the issues within my own culture.
