Maintaining the Doctrine of the Trinity in Protestantism
The doctrine of the Trinity has always been maintained in the true church and by Protestants. Early Protestants consciously followed the tradition of ecumenical councils and creeds like the Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian creeds. The Augsburg Confession references the Council of Nicaea, affirming the doctrine without doubt. The creeds were included in various confessions, emphasizing the significance of their endorsement. Despite the need for church reform, early Protestants upheld the doctrine of the Trinity as unchangeable, highlighting its importance in Protestant relationships.
