S20 E4: Define What Good Enough Means to You (Simone Stolzoff)

The Next Big Idea Daily

NOTE

The Good Enough Job and the Pitfalls of Workism

The Good Enough Job is an approach to job seeking that values sufficiency. It invites you to choose what is good enough for you. The title is an allusion to the Good Enough Parent theory proposed by psychologist Donald Winikot. Workism is treating work like a religion, looking for identity, purpose, and meaning. It creates an extremely high standard and can leave us disappointed. The Good Enough Job recognizes that work is a part of who we are but is not our entire identity.
