Episode #125 ... Gilles Deleuze pt. 1 - What is Philosophy?

Philosophize This!

NOTE

Philosophy's Evolving Lens

Philosophers have historically constructed systems to understand the world, building on the work of their predecessors and striving for greater accuracy in explaining epistemology, aesthetics, ethics, and metaphysics. However, the emergence of structuralism in the early twentieth century revealed that these philosophical perspectives are influenced by the cultural and historical contexts in which thinkers exist, challenging the notion of unbiased inquiry. Subsequently, post-structuralists further critiqued the ambition of rigidly defining reality, asserting that language is inherently unstable and inadequate for capturing the complexities of ontology. This highlights a significant shift in understanding that philosophy must account for its limitations, rather than seeking absolute definitions of existence.
