Valor of the Helvetii and Roman Control of Transalpine Gaul
The Helvetii are praised for their valor as they engage in daily battles with the Germans to protect Gallic territory. Caesar, as the governor of Transalpine Gaul in 58 BC, controls a significant portion of modern-day France, known as the Roman province of Provincia. This region, now referred to as Provence, stretches from the southeast corner of France along the coastline to Spain and extends northward along the Rhone Valley about 200 miles inland.
