The Correlation Between Belly Size and Hippocampus Size

Eating a lot of ultra-processed foods can make us obese. The bigger our bellies grow, the smaller our brain, including the hippocampus, becomes. Obesity is one of the risk factors for Alzheimer's disease, and it is associated with a smaller hippocampus. On the other hand, being fit is linked to a larger hippocampus. Food plays a crucial role in brain health. Research has shown that people with more visceral fat have smaller brains. Trans fats, added to food for longer shelf life, are harmful and can result in a smaller hippocampus.
