After spending 12 years in industry, I decided to pursue a PhD at 36. I was looking for something bigger to invest my energy in, especially since I didn't have kids. Although I had a successful website development business on the side, I felt the need for a new direction. Without it, I felt mentally stagnant. Life is about enjoying and exploring different passions, like homesteading or carpentry, but they weren't fulfilling enough. I craved something more meaningful for my mind and growth.
