Politicians Are Myth Makers

I'm wondering if it's not just difficult for a philosopher or an intellectual to be good at politics. There's something completely antithetical about the skills that you learn as an academic and the Skills that you need as a politician. Politicians are myth makers. They're storytellers. A narrative gift is what is important in politics. Not necessarily here is a public policy program that's all joined up from beginning to end. It's much more about storytelling to create a connection, a visceral connection between the teller of the tale and the listener of the tale.
