Pompey, Krasus, and Caesar each achieved their goals in a political game. However, there were consequences to their actions. The Senate's prestige suffered, and Cato and Bibulus became prominent losers. Tricky Krasus anticipated that the backlash would mostly affect Pompey. In relationships based on common advantage, being liked is inferior to being loved.
