Spirit of voluntary self-sacrifice vs. power in relationships
Maturity entails understanding that mere desire does not define oneself and is narrow, shifting like whim or gender, signifying immaturity. Identifying with instinctual desires leads to an immature possession lacking productivity and involves only desires, need, and possessiveness without action or sacrifice. This orientation is represented by Peter Pan, opposing maturity perceived as power and corruption epitomized by Captain Hook. While patriarchal structures predicated on sacrifice can deteriorate into corruption and power, relationships will decay towards power instead of integrating spirit in its absence. This degeneration leads to compulsion and force rather than the spirit of voluntary self-sacrifice, the antithesis of power, crucial for thriving relationships and societal harmony.
