Embrace of Illiberal Ideas

The symbiosis of anti-liberalism and perceived anti-liberalism drives people to reject the system itself, as the belief that the rules are rigged against them serves as a gateway to embracing illiberal ideas. While race and immigration are factors, the main drivers of embracing illiberal ideas in the polarized climate are the perception of needing to prevent the other side from gaining power and shutting down the rules. Both sides have valid complaints about each other, questioning if the issues rise to an existential threat level.
