The concept of another civil war is unlikely because it's hard to find a clear cause worth fighting over. Disagreement is integral to democracy and the goal is to have a majority on board. Abraham Lincoln had to work with a diverse and objectionable electorate, persuading them to support his ideas. He had to think about the other side of the argument and build a coalition, knowing he couldn't persuade everyone.
