Empathy is more readily felt for beautiful and polite individuals, as shown in a study on nurses. It is a common human behavior to empathize more with attractive people. Furthermore, the research indicates that taking painkillers can hinder one's ability to empathize somatically by reducing interoception and somatic sensations.
