NOTE

Rise and Fall of Ancient Jewish Temples

The Babylonians conquered the Kingdom of Judah in 586 BC, leading to the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem. Cyrus, the Persian king, allowed the exiles to return and rebuild Jerusalem and the Second Temple in 516 BC. This marked the beginning of the Second Temple period in Jewish history, which lasted until 70 AD when the Romans destroyed the Second Temple during the first Jewish revolt.
