The Air We Breathe

In a secular society, people experience the contestability of their beliefs, realizing that what they believe is not the default and that there are alternative rival stories of who we are and what we're here for. This leads to cross-pressure, where individuals feel tugged and pulled by different beliefs. Doubt is a common experience, regardless of one's religious affiliation, and it can lead to questioning the reality of God, Jesus, and the scriptures. Many people have moments, days, weeks, or even seasons of doubt, where their faith is called into question. Yet, they are not alone in their doubts—shoulder to shoulder with others, including John the Baptizer.
