The gargantuan search space of AI systems needs to be thoughtfully pruned for planning and movement. Research is focused on how to evaluate and select outcomes, with unique breakthroughs and technical insights required for each step. Chaining together LLMs to perform different tasks is proposed, but the effectiveness is still to be determined. A key focus for AI systems is the notion of continual learning, particularly in simulating the mammalian brain, and addressing the lack of episodic memory. This is seen as the next big insight in neuroscience research, as current AI systems lack the ability to retain new concepts without forgetting existing knowledge.
