NOTE

Track Changes, Not REM

Sleep trackers can provide reasonably accurate assessments of deep sleep duration, but they may lack precision regarding the actual depth of that sleep. While the total amount of deep sleep is a reliable measure, similar to how body fat scales provide trustworthy changes over time, sleep trackers are misleading when it comes to REM sleep. The algorithms used cannot accurately track REM without EEG measurements, and thus the reported REM sleep data is often irrelevant or fabricated. Users should disregard REM metrics on sleep trackers, as these figures can confuse and mislead rather than provide insight.
