Stress fractures are common in ultra marathon runners, affecting about 9 to 10% of them. A tubule stress fracture is similar to patellofemoral pain, and if you've had one in the past, you have a 700% greater risk of getting another. Multiple stress fractures may suggest underlying issues beyond running mechanics.
