Builders often underestimate the impact of mold on people's health and lack knowledge on how to prevent its growth during house construction. Elevating lumber out of the soil by a foot can prevent mold growth as soil is abundant in mold and bacteria. Additionally, in the 'dried in' stage, trapping moisture behind spray foam by not ensuring wood is dry enough before sealing can lead to mold growth, a common issue in construction.
