The Importance of Confidence

If the point of 1916 is to imply that America isn't as good as people think, then it deserves a thumbs down. Conservatives hate it because it challenges the myth of America's perfection. But structures like countries can't be judged morally. The author's meltdown on Twitter suggests a lack of confidence in their own arguments. There is a causal relationship between intertwined things, but material conditions are what ultimately bring about change. Some want to incorporate new scholarship on American slavery and its relationship with capitalism.
