Increased access to information about mental health can empower individuals to identify their symptoms and seek help, reducing shame and secrecy. However, this same information can also lead to the over-pathologizing of normal human responses to challenging situations, creating a risk of labeling typical emotional experiences as psychological issues. This tendency to diagnose and label can further enable the weaponization of psychology, where individuals are boxed into categories, potentially undermining the complexity of their experiences.
