Meaning & Meaningless

Why would anyone work so hard to reinforce a world view that's so pessimistic? I mean, who really wants everything to be meaningless? What possible benefit could they be getting from that? In the same way chiran thinks that people adopt a story to escape the meaninglessness of existence, simon de bauvoir think that people adopt these same stories to escape themeaning of existence. Simply by virtue of being alive, some one can easily turn towards a world view where meaning doesn't exist. Because living in constant consideration of your actions and how affect yourself and the people around you, this can be an uncomfortable place to be in as well.
