Derridian Feminist Interpretations

A bad Derridian feminist interpretation emphasizes reemphasizing the position of women and their distinct outlook on the world to overcome the privileging of a masculine viewpoint over a feminine one. A good interpretation, exemplified by Judith Butler's work, argues that foregrounding the position of women relative to men allows patriarchy to determine responsiveness, rather than truly overcoming it. Instead, a more feminist act would be to deconstruct the gender binary as a whole, viewing gender as entirely performative rather than adhering to masculine or feminine perspectives.
