The Impact of Capitalism on Society and the Need for Change

Looking down from my office in Manhattan when Lehman Brothers collapsed, I couldn't help but think about the people who would still be expected to show up for work despite the absence of a functioning financial system. My complaint is not with socialism, but with capitalists who are foolishly sticking to outdated ideas. We need to find a way to balance our need to contribute and our need to consume, and capitalism may not provide the solution.
