The Success of Religious Narratives

Religious narratives have emerged and maintained themselves successfully due to their simple explanation that accommodates a lot of difficult to explain phenomena accurately. A deity that can cause all phenomena is a parsimonious hypothesis that accurately explains the world for those who accept religious explanations. It may not be accepted by scientists, but for those not sampling scientific data, it doesn't matter as it only needs to explain what is necessary. This concept can be generalized to societal norms and ways of behaving.
