Substance, Attributes, and Modes: The Essence of Understanding

Creating an ontology of eminence necessitates addressing the nature of the universe, specifically whether there should be a distinction between modes or types of being in a univocal framework. This inquiry leads to a need for clarity on how substance fundamentally interacts and changes. Spinoza's conceptual framework provides essential definitions: substances represent the essence of existence; attributes denote the essence perceived by the intellect; and modes express the states of a substance that define its properties in reality. Furthermore, Spinoza critically challenges traditional notions of creation and emanation, urging a reevaluation of these concepts in light of his definitions.
