Responsible Management of Competition

China is adopting the language of the American Biden administration regarding the responsibility of nuclear superpowers in managing competition. Despite a consensus in China that America aims to hold China down, there is growing recognition of the importance of communication between the two nations. Previously, engaging with America was seen as a sign of weakness, but now there is a shift in mindset towards communication as a positive step. The underlying anger towards America still exists due to perceived double standards, but the willingness to engage in dialogue has increased.
