To separate emotions from reactions, observe your feelings as if they belong to someone else. Recognize that you are in control of your feelings and can react appropriately. Many people, due to social media, experience heightened stress from negative online interactions. This is because stress hormones are released in response to perceived threats, like running from a predator. However, in our current environment, this response is unnecessary. It is crucial to have metacognition, self-awareness, in order to differentiate and react effectively.
