Philosophy For Our Times

NOTE

Embrace Multiplicity of Perspectives

Process over substantive judgments is essential to accommodate a range of perspectives by creating institutions that value listening to all voices. By establishing multi-layered institutions, which prevent any one perspective from dominating collective decisions, individuals are given the freedom to pursue their unique views for the greater good. Tolerance should extend to those who support a system allowing a multitude of perspectives, while the exclusion of those opposing democracy may be justified in situations where intolerance prevails. In cases where intolerant groups are not likely to succeed, granting them political access may be a viable approach.
