How to Host a Web Font

Hosting a web font locally has become more challenging as many font providers now offer fonts as a service, making it difficult for users to download and host fonts themselves. Google Fonts is one of the few platforms that still allow font downloads. Designers have faced issues with the limited options for locally hosting fonts, aside from Google Fonts, which can be costly. For instance, OpenAI's font would cost tens of millions of dollars a month if self-hosted. Therefore, the trend is moving towards using web font services rather than self-hosting due to the cost and access limitations.
