NOTE

The Importance of Morning Light Exposure for Circadian Rhythms

Consistent exposure to low morning light is beneficial due to the slow integrative mechanism averaging across previous days, and the retina's heightened sensitivity to light as the day progresses. If unable to get evening light exposure, morning light is preferable as most people already get some artificial light exposure in the evening. Afternoon and evening sunlight can partly counteract the negative effects of artificial light exposure at night, reducing melatonin suppression. Viewing low solar angle sunlight early in the day, solar angle sunlight later in the day, and getting bright light in the eyes throughout the day are all advantageous practices.
