In developing software for translation management, complexity arose from the need to support intricate business processes, such as onboarding freelancers for technical translations. Although usability improvements were a continual goal, completely removing user onboarding would have compromised essential functionalities. Thus, the relationship between software design and the underlying complexity of business processes is highlighted, emphasizing that while striving for simplicity, some complexities must be retained to ensure critical features are not lost.

Is it a good idea to guide your users through your app when they sign up? Or does it show that your interface is too convoluted?

The answer is: yes. Both. And it depends on what you're building, who it's for, and what they expect.
