There are two parts of human psyche - one striving to do well in the world and another deeply cynical and embittered./nThe fall and the rise of self-consciousness in the story of the Garden of Eden reflect these ideas./nOur self-consciousness produces the division within us./nHuman beings are intensely aware of their finitude and suffering which can turn them against being itself.
