The challenges faced by the people are linked to promises from their ancestor Joseph, who foresaw their time and obtained a covenant from the Lord for a righteous branch. This branch, although broken off, would lead to the manifestation of the Messiah in the latter days. The wilderness journey is seen as a fulfillment of these ancient covenants and promises, providing purpose to their suffering and a larger perspective on their struggles. Recognizing the fulfillment of prophecies and covenants helps in handling challenges better and instilling trust in the larger purpose.
