The current scenario presents challenges with lawfare against Trump and the possible election rigging. There is concern that failure to prosecute individuals involved in lawfare could lead to recurrence. The unspoken norm of not prosecuting the losing candidate has been disregarded. There are suspicions of the legal system, media, and elections being rigged, given the system's design and lack of transparency. The inability to audit the electronic part of the election and doubts around mail-in ballots contribute to these suspicions. It is argued that proving the election is fair is required rather than proving it is rigged. The complexity of prosecuting those potentially involved in election rigging, including media executives and prosecutors, presents a challenging and practically impossible situation. The imbalance in power where one group can manipulate elections without consequences fuels concerns of operating more like a dictatorship rather than a democratic republic, leading to the belief that the republic is on the brink of collapse.
