Influence of the Frontal Lobe on Attribution of External Information
The frontal lobe of the brain, responsible for executive function and agency, can shut down in a way that leads people to attribute external information to an external agent. This phenomenon may stem from the way human brains are highly creative, making it difficult to attribute certain experiences to oneself. Additionally, cognitive scientists use imaging instruments to understand when parts of the brain are shutting down. Despite this, there are still unexplained occurrences where individuals gain knowledge from unfamiliar cultural sources, as observed in Carl Jung's empirical research on the psychoid.
